Screaming Eagles shut out Rocket 3 0 Hockey News

Cam Fergus is a few steps closer to the top.

The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles centre registered two points in a 3-0 victory over the P.E.I. Rocket Saturday, moving him to third place in points in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Fergus' goal and assist give him 24 points on the season. The Brantford, Ont., native helped beat P.E.I. and move the Screaming Eagles within one point of the top spot.

It has been in a tight race for the top spot, with four teams within two points of the lead.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL Saturday, it was: Moncton 4, St. John's 2; Acadie-Bathurst 4, Halifax 3 (OT); Val-d'Or 2, Rimouski 1; Quebec 7, Drummondville 3; and Rouyn-Noranda 5, Baie-Comeau 4.

At Charlottetown, David Davenport made 26 saves for the shutout.

Jean-Claude Sawyer scored halfway through the first for the Screaming Eagles (7-6-0-0).

Fergus and Chris Culligan grabbed goals in the second.

Ryan Mior stopped 30 shots for P.E.I. (7-3-0-1). He was pulled with 1:36 left to play, but the Rocket could not make anything of the advantage.

Wildcats 4, Fog Devils 2

At St. John's, N.L., Andrew MacDonald had a goal and an assist as Moncton downed the Fog Devils.

Marc-Andre Labelle, Alexi Pianosi and Matt Marquardt added goals for the Wildcats (7-5-0-1).

Mario Kempe and Kyle Stanley scored for St. John's (4-6-0-1).

Titan 4, Mooseheads 3 (OT)

At Halifax, Dany Mase scored 1:28 into overtime to lead Acadie-Bathurst over the Mooseheads.

Bryce Swan, Logan MacMillan and Garrett Peters scored for Halifax (6-4-1-1) in the second period.

The Titan (5-7-0-0) came to life in the second half of the third period, scoring three goals in six minutes. Thomas Beauregard, Martin Bartos and Mathieu Perreault accounted for the goals.

Foreurs 2, Rimouski 1

At Val-d'Or, Que., Louis-Etienne Leblanc scored the winner at 12:44 of the third period to lead the Foreurs over Rimouski.

Martin Thibeault scored the other goal for Val-d'Or (5-4-1-1).

David Skokan had the lone goal for the Oceanic (1-7-3-0).

Remparts 7, Voltigeurs 3

At Drummondville, Que., Roman Bashkirov scored a hat trick as Quebec routed the Voltigeurs.

Ruslan Bashkirov added two goals for the Remparts (6-5-0-0), while Brent Aubin and Andrew Andricopoulos also scored.

Drew Paris scored twice and Drew Paris put away one for Drummondville (6-6-0-1).

Huskies 5, Drakkar 4 (SO)

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Yannick Riendeau scored the shootout winner as the Huskies slipped by Baie-Comeau.

Justin Munden had two goals for Rouyn-Noranda (6-6-0-1), while Pier-Luc Champagne and Michael Dubuc put away one apiece.

Etienne Morier scored twice for the Drakkar (9-2-0-1), with singles from Alexandre Picard-Hooper and Benjamin Breault.
