Olympiques down Tigres 7 5 Hockey News

The Gatineau Olympiques were tipping hats and turning tricks Sunday.

Keven Petit and Claude Giroux grabbed hat tricks for the Olympiques while Brett Morrison and Viatcheslav Trukhno both registered three assists in a 7-5 win over the Victoriaville Tigres in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Sunday.

The goals put Giroux at third in the league with 19 points.

Elsewhere in QMJHL action Sunday, it was: St. John's 3, Drummondville 2; Saint John 4, Moncton 3 (SO); P.E.I. 6, Rimouski 5; Baie-Comeau 8, Quebec 5; and Rouyn Noranda 4, Shawinigan 3.

At Gatineau, Que., Darryl Smith added a goal for the Olympique (8-1-0-1), who retained the top spot in the league.

Jan Kolarik scored the night's third hat trick for the Tigres (5-3-0-0), while Maxim Noreau added one.

Fog Devils 3, Voltigeurs 2

At St. John's, Wesley Welcher tallied two points with a goal and an assist as the Fog Devils beat Drummondville.

Adam Luke and T.J. Brennan added for St. John's (3-5-0-1).

Tomas Svoboda and Etienne Bellavance-Martin scored for the Voltigeurs (6-5-0-0).

Sea Dogs 4, Wildcats 3

At Moncton, N.B., Christopher DiDomenico scored the shootout winner and one in regulation as the Wildcats squeaked by Saint John.

Jonathan Laberge also had a goal in the shootout, while Shayne Tremblay accounted for the Sea Dogs' (3-4-1-1) other two goals.

Christian Gaudet, Brad Smith and Nathan Welton scored for Moncton (6-5-0-0).

Rocket 6, Wildcats 5

At Rimouski, Que., P.E.I. held on for the win despite a strong third period from the Oceanic.

Tyler Hawes, David Laliberte, Joey Haddad, Martin Latal, Geoff Walker and Jordon Southorn scored for the Rocket (6-2-0-1).

Rimouski (1-6-2-0) put away three unanswered goals in the third, but it was not enough. Maxime Tanguay had two goals, while Alexandre Neron, Olivier Fortier and Philippe Cornet added for the Oceanic.

Drakkar 8, Remparts 5

At Quebec City, Baie-Comeau scored four goals in the final ten minutes to defeat the Remparts.

Charles-Antoine Messier put away three, Francois Bouchard had two, while Keven Dupont, Pierre-Cedrick Labrie, and Benjamin Breault added for the Drakkar (7-2-0-0).

Joey Ryan, Brent Aubin, Maxime Lacroix, Ruslan Bashkirov and Angelo Esposito scored for Quebec (3-4-0-0).

Huskies 4, Cataractes 3

At Shawinigan, Que., Jeff Desjardins and Yannick Riendeau scored in the shootout as Rouyn-Noranda slipped by the Cataractes.

The two also added goals in regulation for the Huskies (4-6-0-0)., Desjardins with two and Yannick Riendeau one.

Pierre-Alexandre Vandal scored in the shootout for Shawinigan (6-2-0-1) and added one in regular time, along with Francis Pare, Sean Smyth.
