Brampton downs Sarnia 3 1 Hockey News

Brad Albert's power-play goal at 16:19 in the second period stood as the winner in a 3-1 Brampton Battalion victory over the Sarnia Sting in Ontario Hockey League action Sunday

After finishing last overall during the 2005-06 campaign, Sarnia has stormed out of the gates this season, having won six consecutive games prior to Sunday's defeat. Brampton meanwhile, snapped a two-game losing streak.

Following a scoreless first period, the Battalion took a 1-0 lead 1:04 into the second, when Howie Martin struck on the power play for his third goal of the season. That score held until the 16:19 mark, when defenceman Albert scored with the man advantage on a low wrist shot that deflected off a Sarnia defender and past goaltender Sebastien Dahm. It was Albert's first career OHL goal.

Michal Klejna gave Brampton a 3-0 lead at 8:36 of the third but rookie sensation Steven Stamkos put an end to Bryan Pitton's shutout bid 31 seconds later, capitalizing on a one-timer. Stamkos has nine goals in nine games this season.

Sarnia's record now stands at 7-2-0, while Brampton improves to 5-4-1-1.

Sebastian Dahm stopped 35 shots in the loss.
