Warren finished with Scott Harrison after fight falls through News

Boxing promoter Frank Warren has dumped Scott Harrison after the troubled featherweight failed to make the weight for Saturday's title defence and was forced to give up his WBO crown.

The Scottish fighter, who has a history of alcohol abuse and violent behaviour, has faced criminal charges in Glasgow and Malaga. He spent five weeks in a Spanish jail on assault charges before being released last month and cleared to fight Nicky Cook at London's ExCel Arena.

When it became clear he was well over the 126-pound weight limit only three days before the fight, Harrison's trainer and father, Peter Harrison, said the fighter had vacated the title he had held for four years.

``Scott Harrison is gone as far as I am concerned,'' Warren said Thursday. ``You cannot deal with things when people are not telling you the truth and you are not getting the information. I had no knowledge at all that Scott was pulling out of the fight and it is all pretty dreadful.''

Warren is now looking for an alternative opponent for Cook but no longer has a world title contest on the card, which also includes Amir Khan's 10th fight as a pro against Rachid Drilzane of France and a British heavyweight rematch between Danny Williams and Audley Harrison.

Without a world contest on the bill, Warren has elevated the Khan-Drilzane fight to a 10-rounder for the IBF intercontinental light-welterweight title.
